My life with a wonderful host family
St.Paul, Minnesota, U.S.A., 2021-2022
I was placed in a lovely family in St. Paul, Minnesota's capitol. I had a host mother, father, two brothers, and our dog!
Megan, my host mother, became my second mother. She had always wanted a daughter, so I became one for her. She is the vice president of a marketing firm. We have many things in common. Traveling, cooking, and shopping were some of our favourite activities. We also went on many adventures together. I introduced her to Uzbek culture and taught her everything I know about my homeland. She is a significant figure in my life because she taught me to be myself and to be fearless in the face of adversity. I admire this wise and intelligent woman.
Matt, my host father, is an extremely fun and caring person. He also works in marketing and enjoys soccer and backgammon. We loved cooking, chatting, going grocery shopping, and going out to eat together. Hiking and biking were also among our favorites. Matt had taught me to enjoy myself while while being focused on my work.
Carson, my host brother, is a senior in high school. He quickly became one of my closest friends. We frequently communicated in Russian because he was interested in the Russian language. At least once a week, we went to Starbucks or a vegan café to talk about anything and we watched a moie (usually a horror one). Carson is indeed a close friend who taught me to be passionate about something I enjoy (because he was passionate about studying Russian!) and to appreciate life.
Finn, my host brother, is both a quiet and a fun person. He is currently a freshman in high school. We didn't talk much, but if I wanted to join him in shooting some basketball, he'd be extremely excited. Late-night snacks and cooking have also helped us to bond.
And Truman, our dog, is wonderfully sweet and clever. Everyone adores him, and he adores us. Truman was always willing to give me a hug when I needed one. He especially enjoyed it when we returned from the store with bags. He dashed over to us, looking for dog treats. He's super adorable, and I miss him terribly.

My host family is a very significant part of my life. They are my second family. We communicate via chat every day and call each other once a week. They are among the most nicest people I have ever met. I'm hoping to see them as soon as possible.

And here are some of the dishes I prepared for them during my exchange year!
